Owners Rides!

Brian Laurance 59
I remember this car since my childhood in Baker City, Oregon. Gershon Neuberger purchased the car new, then died in 1960. Other members of the Neuberger family maintained the car over the following decades, usually storing the vehicle in a back room at the local Buick dealership, where the Neubergers had purchased new Buicks for many years. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, I occasionally stumbled across the beautiful old Buick in the dealership’s storage area. As an adult, I often wondered whether the car still existed.
In 1998, I visited the old hometown, and, while taking my mother for a ride, saw the Buick sitting in the driveway of Mr. Neuberger’s nephew, Gert. Gert, then 84-years old, had pulled the Buick from the garage for the first time in six years. His intent was to take photos of the car and place it up for sale. I had always dreamed of owning the Buick, and I did not pass up the opportunity.
The ’59 Electra features the General Motors “Flying Wing” roofline, which was the most significant styling innovation of the 1959 design program. The car, an unmolested and rust free original, also has the rare, extra-cost Triple Turbine (Flight Pitch) automatic transmission, which was utilized for just two years due to its cost and complexity. The car’s “Delta Wing” style creates a sensation wherever it’s seen.
